Yes Natalie, these techniques work on unintentionally stretched ears too. In fact you should be able to get them to return to their normal size just through wearing very small and light studs and using vitamin E or jojoba oil. Massage the oil into the ear when you shower and you should see your ear starting to shrink. It may take a while but it will work if you have patience.

Hi Kayla. The problem you’re experiencing here is the scar tissue preventing your ear from healing up anymore. The best thing you can do is use the oils I suggested in the post to help soften up any hardened scar tissue. You may want to go to a dermatologist or even just a body piercer and ask their opinion.

Hi Sammie. If the tapers are light, they shouldn’t cause any issues. Although I would recommend you still find yourself some plugs. What are your tapers made from? If they are acrylic you should switch them up for some steel or titanium plugs.

Hi Hannah, do these methods work if you want to shrink down lobe piercings which have been stretched unintentionally? I had my lobes pierced when I was 11, I’m now 17 and they’ve turned into small slits as opposed to little holes, and I want to get them back to how they should be without surgery, if I can… thank you!

I have a question about all this I done used all of these but I was at a 2 inch size plug a year go now my ears are at a half inch and won’t go past this . Is it cause when I was 12 when I frist started sizing up I blew my ear so bad that my ears looked like a cats buy . Any tips on to fix that problem . I need mine gone for a job that I been working on for many years to get and they need gone with in a month any tips

I was going to go up another size to a 00g but I only did it in one ear and I didn’t like it so I put the 2g in but I didn’t know if it would so anything! This helped a lot, but I also read you shouldn’t keep wearing tapers, but they are light, would it still cause my ears damage? Or should I find plugs? They’ve been like this for almost 4 months now

That could work. Try using jojoba or vitamin E oil. Sometimes the skin needs to be slightly damaged again to produce collogen for healing.

Hello, great post! I was wondering though, I did this when I took my plugs out years ago (over 5) and they still seem to be about a 14 ish gague. Should I re-gague it to one size up to create a tear then go back down sizes from there? Right now they’re fully healed up but I can’t wear studs because they almost go through the hole 🙁
