Decisions Decisions! http://propiercingkits.com/tongue-piercing-pros-and-cons-decisions-decisions http://propiercingkits.com/tongue-piercing-pros-and-cons-decisions-decisions#comments Sun, 31 Jan 2016 00:04:33 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1535 [...]]]> Having trouble deciding whether to get that tongue piercing? We’ve all been there. Trust me!

What a tricky decision. Getting a piercing is a big commitment so you need to be certain. There are so many things that you need to consider. Will it suit you? Will it affect your work? Will you be able to look after it properly? The list goes on.

How about if I help you decide?

Let’s talk through this decision together. That way you can reach a more certain outcome.

What I’m going to do is tell you everything about the tongue piercing. Positive and negative.

Let’s get started…

Rumours and Myths BUSTED!

Ignore
Ignore the stupid questions people ask about your piercing!

There are rumours floating about about wearers of tongue piercings. Many people believe that having a tongue piercing has a hidden meaning.

Before I give you the details, let me say that this is not at all true. It is merely a rumour and shouldn’t be taken seriously!

If you decide to get your tongue pierced, prepare to be asked if it’s for oral sex. Of course, you know it’s not. You will get asked this question though. You have to learn to ignore these kind of remarks. Anyone insensitive enough to ask this is not worthy of your friendship (unless you’re into that kind of humour). Drop them out!

Will Your Work, School or Parents Mind?

Having piercings is strictly forbidden in certain organisations and many schools.

If this rule applies to where you are currently working, getting your tongue pierced is a bad idea. Is it really worth getting fired for the sake of a piercing?

If you are currently job hunting, be mindful as to what piercings you get. Is there a particular line of work you are aiming to get into? If so, do your research! Find out what their policy on body piercing says. It varies drastically between different companies. Some are lenient whereas others are strict. Some even fall halfway, meaning they don’t mind you having piercings, as long as they are not too obvious!

A word of advice; for job interviews you should take your body jewelry out. It is paramount that you turn up looking professional! This also goes for companies that allow piercings. This will drastically increase your chance of landing the job.

Word of advice: Aim to get a job where you can have piercings. Any job that doesn’t is the wrong job for you!

Even if you are still in school, this applies to you.

If it is you parents who oppose the piercing, be respectful! Yes, they will get over it eventually, but you don’t wanna cause family warfare over a bit of jewelry do you?

Other Pros and Cons

Let’s have a look at the main pros and cons for the tongue piercing. I’m going to lay them out in list format. This will make it much easier for you to make your final decision!

Pros:

  • Easily hidden. Don’t open your mouth too wide and no one will see anything.
  • Can provide pleasure during oral sex.
  • Show off your individuality. Piercings are a great way to express yourself!
  • Fast healing.
  • Some people find that piercings raise their self esteem.
  • To get the look you desire or create your own individual style!
  • Vast assortment of awesome jewelry. There is something for everyone!

Cons:

  • Can chip your teeth if jewelry is too long.
  • Heightened risk of infection in oral piercings. Avoid this issue by keeping good oral hygiene and following your aftercare instructions.
  • You have to avoid certain things during the healing period. Such as crunchy and spicy foods, making out and oral sex.
  • Your tongue will swell a bit for a few days. This may cause you to talk with a lisp. This will pass.
  • Speaking may feel a bit weird for a few days. This will pass though. You will get used to it.

Only You Can Decide

You now understand the positive and negatives of the tongue piercing. Hopefully this has made things a little clearer in your head.

Make your decision once and for all. Ask yourself:

“Are the pros worth putting up with the cons for?”

Note down your intuitive answer to that question. That would be the first thought that popped into your head.

If your immediate answer was “yes”, the tongue piercing is for you. If you answered “no”, don’t rush into anything. Wait a few weeks and see how you feel about it. Reread the list of pros and cons. If you’re still not convinced, you could always consider a different piercing!

If you do get your tongue pierced, go to a professional and take good care of it!

Everyone experiences piercings differently. What are your personal pros and cons of the tongue piercing? Let us know by dropping a comment below.

Top 7 Easily Hidden Piercings – Your Little Secret! http://propiercingkits.com/top-7-easily-hidden-piercings-your-little-secret http://propiercingkits.com/top-7-easily-hidden-piercings-your-little-secret#comments Thu, 21 Jan 2016 01:25:10 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1487 [...]]]> Walking around with a body and face full of metal jewelry is life for many people. For others it is simply not feasible though. This could be due to their job, school or parents.

There are certain situations in life where it is not appropriate to have tons of piercings on show. For example, if you are attending a job interview. You stand a much better chance of landing the job if the interviewer can not see any visible piercings on you.

Although there are many companies who do allow there employees to have piercings, there are even more who don’t. In my personal opinion, having a piercing or four is not going to effect the quality of your work. Therefore I think this rule is pointless! What can you do though?

There are certain times in life where we need to think outside the box. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with bending the rules a little bit. Afterall, your boss won’t even know!

Instead of letting your creativity get stifled and neglecting your right to self expression, why not consider getting a easily hidden piercing?

For those of you who are having trouble coming up with ideas for piercings you can hide, here area a few suggestions:

Septum Piercing

Septum PiercingOne of the coolest piercings which you can hide. My personal favourite, the septum piercing.

What I like about the septum piercing is the fact that it is right there in the centre of your face when you want it to be. But when you don’t want it there, you can neatly tuck it away!

When a situation arises that calls for you to be piercing free, it can be neatly tucked away, flipped up into your nostrils. No one will even be aware of its existence! You can actually get jewelry for your septum which is specially shaped in such a way that it will fit perfectly inside your nostrils.

Belly Button Piercing

Belly Button PiercingMost of us don’t walk around with our belly button on show all the time. This is particularly true when you are in a situation where you need to tone down your appearance!

If you are in a ‘less clothed’ situation and need to hide your belly button piercing, there are piercing retainers you can buy for this very purpose. They are usually made from a flexible, non-shiny material such as BioFlex or BioPlast and are available in a variety of skintones or clear. From a distance, no one would be able to tell, unless they were already aware that you have the piercing.

Sorry for stating the obvious, but this one was pretty self explanatory, wasn’t it?

Nipple Piercing

Nipple PiercingsIf you are a woman, your nipples are not going to be seen many people anyway, so this is an obvious choice if you want a piercing that must remain unseen.

Guys, on the other hand, you may find it a little bit trickier to get away with keeping a nipple piercing a secret. This might even involve resisting the urge to take your shirt off when the weather gets hot. Depending on who exactly you are hiding the piercing from of course.

Another potential problem with the nipple piercing is that it may be visible if you are wearing a thin or white shirt. Your nipple may look like they are permanently hard. In order to minimise this issue you could get yourself a neutral coloured nipple piercing retainer made from a softer and more flexible material such as BioFlex/BioPlast. You may also want to try wearing a thicker t-shirt and maybe avoid wearing white.

Microdermal or Surface Piercing

Cleavage PiercingThe most versatile type of piercing you can get!

As you may know, both microdermal and surface piercings can be placed nearly anywhere on the body. This includes some very private and hidden areas where no one except your significant other will even get a glimpse of it.

Use your imagination. If you are considering either of these two types of piercings, your options are pretty much unlimited!

My top recommendations for hidden microdermal and surface piercings are the hips, the cleavage, back of the neck or behind the ear (can be hidden with long hair).

Genital Piercings

Needless to say, one of the most private piercings you can get is *drumroll* your private parts!

I’m not going to sit here and type out the names of all the different piercings you could get down below because I’m sure you get the picture already.

Genital piercings are not for everyone, but you can be sure that no one will know about it except for your very nearest and dearest. It may even bit a nice little surprise for your significant other!

All Around the Ears

Cartilage PiercingsIf you have longer hair, you could consider certain ear piercings, which could be easily hidden under your hair. Even if you have short hair, you could wear a hat!

One of your best options would be the helix piercing, which is at the top of your ear, on the cartilage. Being as this piercing is right at the top of your ear, long hair would cover it naturally without any real effort on your part. It can’t  get much easier than that!

I would also suggest the daith, conch or snug piercing; just wear a small and subtle piece of jewelry and allow your hair to flow over it naturally. You could get away with having multiple piercings in your ears without being noticed if your hair is thick and darker in colour.

The awesome thing is that when you want to show your piercings off all you have to do is tie your hair up!

See a list of all the different types of ear piercings here.

Tongue Piercings

Tongue Frenulum PiercingObviously your tongue is in your mouth so therefore a piercing in this area would be easy enough to hide. Provided you do not talk too much or open your mouth wide too often (Cover your mouth when you yawn!). I know it may sound like I’m stating the obvious, but I do feel that the tongue piercing is a worthy candidate for one of the best easily hidden piercings

When you are in an anti-piercing situation, put in a piercing retainer in a neutral colour or a clear one. As long as you are not sticking your tongue out at people, you should get away with it problem free!

Those of you who would like to take the concept of hidden piercings to another level of extreme would love the tongue web piercing!

Note: Oral piercings need to be very well cared for as they are at high risk of infection.

Conclusion

The “no piercings” rule is definitely a rule which can be broken without getting in trouble, losing your job or frightening anyone!

It’s just a fact of life that those of us who appear to be ‘alternative’ in anyway are expected to tone it down for certain occasions. Society is just not quite ready for how cool you look!

Just remember that at the end of the day, it is your body and therefore your choice to pierce it. Although if your piercings are getting the way of you getting your dream job, you may have to rethink your priorities!

Keep being yourself and while you’re here, tell me about what secret and hidden piercings are on your body. Drop a comment below. I love hearing from you guys!
