Microdermal Hip Piercing Information: Everything You Need to Know http://propiercingkits.com/microdermal-hip-piercing-information-everything-you-need-to-know http://propiercingkits.com/microdermal-hip-piercing-information-everything-you-need-to-know#comments Fri, 01 Apr 2016 21:23:46 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1731 [...]]]> The microdermal hip piercing is unique, elegant and quirky.

This piercing is awesome to show off yet easy to hide.

The piercing is placed right wear the hipbones are. Complimenting the natural curves of your figure.

As gorgeous as this piercing is, I wouldn’t recommend jumping in and getting it done without thinking about what you’re doing.

Do your research. Find out more about the piercing so you know what you’re getting yourself into. There are things you need to know.

Here you will find all the information you will need:

Dermal VS Surface Hip Piercing

There are two types of hip piercing.

The microdermal and the surface piercing.

The Hip Dermal is a single point piercing. Meaning that the jewelry is anchored into the surface of the skin through one hole only. A single ball or gem is seen above the skin.

One of the benefits of the dermal is the fact that you can place multiple piercings in close proximity. You can even have an odd number if you wish. I see many people get 3 dermals on each hip. What a gorgeous look.

The other form of hip piercing is a surface piercing. A standard double point piercing. Meaning that the jewelry goes in through one point of the skin surface and out through another. Two balls or gems will be seen on the outside on the skin.

Types of Jewelry

Microdermal

Dermal Hip PiercingsA dermal anchor is inserted underneath the skin, through the incision made by the piercer. The anchor is shaped like a foot.

Having holes in the anchor makes the jewelry more secure. Thus lowering rejection rates. The anchor is permanent. You should NOT attempt to remove it without the help of your piercer or a medical professional.

A gem or other decorative head is screwed into the protruding part of the anchor. This part of the jewelry is interchangeable. There are many designs available.

Surface Piercing

Hip Surface PiercingA surface bar is usually worn in the hip surface piercing. Wearing the correct type of barbell in your piercing is crucial. Otherwise your piercing is at greater risk of rejection.

You should pick a flat surface bar with an upright post on both ends. The tops screw into the upright legs. These are the only parts of the jewelry seen above the skin. Balls, gems and disks are commonly worn as tops on surface piercings.

How to Look After Your Hip Piercing

To help your hip piercing heal up smoothly, you need to look after it well. This includes cleansing twice daily using a piercing cleansing solution.

My top recommendation is the EasyPiercing Care Kit. With this kit you get three different piercing cleansing solutions. Each with its own unique benefits.

If you can’t get hold of a piercing solution, your next option is to throw together some saline solution.

All you need to do is stir a quarter of a tea spoon of rock salt into a cup of luke warm water.

Soak a cotton pad in the solution and hold on your piercing for 5 minutes.

Alternatively, use the cup to form a suction seal on your skin. Hold for five minutes. Don’t it spill. You must keep the suction. Otherwise water will go everywhere.

Hip Piercing Other Care Tips:

 • Don’t use alcohol to cleanse your piercing or jewelry.
 • Wear loose fitted clothing. Your waist bands should be low enough to not rub on your new piercing.
 • Avoid saunas and swimming pools.
 • Don’t touch your piercing with dirty hands. Wash your hands thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap before you cleanse your piercing.
 • Do not change your jewelry for at least a month after getting your piercing done. Although ideally you should wait longer than this. You don’t want your piercing closing up before it’s had a chance to heal.

How Long Will it Take to Heal?

Piercings in the hip area take approximately three months to heal completely. Give or take a few weeks. This varies drastically from one person to the next.

Talk to your piercer about healing times.

Infection or Rejection?

During the healing period, keep a close eye on your piercing. If you look after it well, there should be no problems. Although you still need to be vigilant. Surface and dermal piercings are prone to rejection and infection.

Symptoms to watch out for:

 • Redness, soreness.
 • Excess bleeding.
 • Foul smelling or off colour puss.
 • Jewelry sitting differently. More loose than it used to be (rejection).

Preventing Such Issues

Luckily these problems are preventable.

For a start, wear titanium jewelry: It is less irritating to skin than steel, which contains trace amounts of nickel. Many people are sensitive to nickel, so can’t wear steel jewelry without their piercing playing up.

Larger gauge sizes are less likely to reject: I know this sounds bizarre. Smaller gauged jewelry is much thinner. This can cause a ‘cheese cutting’ effect. Cutting through the skin like a piece of string through cheese.

Wear the correct style of jewelry: In a surface hip piercing, wear a flat bar with upright legs on each end. In a dermal, go for an anchor with holes in it. Your skin will grow through these holes, making your piercing more secure!

Conclusion

Put the effort into looking after your hip piercing. This will prevent any problems from arising during the healing process. Your piercing will thank you later.

Hip piercings take 3 months to heal up. I know, it sounds like a long time.

Be patient. Time will pass quicker than you think!

Trust me, it is worth the wait for such a beautiful and feminine embellishment on your hips.

Having this piercing will give you a reason to rock belly tops. Especially when the sun is shining.

The hip piercing is so easy to hide that you won’t have to worry what your boss or parents think. Perfect for piercing lovers who’s boss does not share their passion.

Would you get a hip piercing done?

Have your say:

Considering opening up shop as a professional piercer?

Acquiring all the supplies you will shouldn’t be too difficult. What catches most people out is knowing exactly what they will need in this studio. It seems to be an awful lot of stuff, right?

If you are struggling with this, don’t fret as I intend to help you out.

Here you will find a complete list of supplies needed in a piercing studio. Including the trivial items which are easily forgotten. They are more important than you may realise!

If you cannot afford everything yet, start off with the key items and work your way forward.

I will mark the most important items on this list to make things easier for you.

Click the image of the item you want to find out more.

Here goes:

Piercing Equipment

Forceps

Piercing ForcepsWhatever piercing is being done, the top way to secure the skin in place is to use a set of forcep clamps.

Piercing forceps come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You should have some of each type. Different piercings call for different forceps!

I strongly advise you to get metal ones. Avoid the cheap plastic forceps at all costs. Read about my bad experience with plastic forceps to find out why.

Needles

Piercing Needlesto state the obvious: a piercing studio is as good as useless without needles. Hollow needles that it. In various gauge sizes.

They should be kept inside their sterile packaging. Not to be opened until they are about to be used.

You will need a large supply of needles, so order in bulk!

Receiving tubes

Receiving TubesA receiving tube is placed on the back of the skin being pierced, where the needle is to come out. Helping to guide the needle in the right direction.

For example, when a receiving tube is used with a nose piercing it will prevent the needle stabbing inside of the nostril.

You should get a selection of receiving tubes.

Dermal Punches

Microdermal Piercing KitBe sure to get good quality dermal punches. These make for greater accuracy when performing a dermal piercing. More suitable for those of you who are relatively new to dermal piercing.

A dermal punch can also be used to pierce the ears in a larger gauge size. Saving your client from the lengthy stretching process.

Make sure to get a high quality dermal punch. You will need various different gauge sizes too.

Disposable Scalpels

Disposable ScalpelThe less common method used to perform a dermal piercing.

Also used to up the gauge size of any other piercing. Using a disposable scalpel.

As with all other piercing tools, scalpels are single use only and should be disposed of responsibly after use. This helps avoid spreading bacteria or bloodborne pathogens.

Sterile Skin Markers

Skin MarkersYes, sharpie pens are frequently used to mark the location of the piercing.

Although using a specialised skin marker is much more sterile. This type of pen is safe as it is designed for use on human skin in a medical setting.

These pens will come in sterile packaging which should be kept sealed until you intend to use them.

Body Jewelry

Straight Barbells

Straight BarbellsOne of the most commonly used types of jewelry is the straight barbell. This form of body jewelry can be worn in many types of piercings.

This includes the ears, bridge, nipple, tongue, tragus, helix and more.

Get a large supply of straight barbells as they will be in high demand. Be sure to have an array of colours, materials and ball endings. Your customers will be grateful for the fact they have a choice.

Ball Closure Rings

Ball Closure RingsAnother highly popular form of body jewelry; the Ball Closure Ring. Commonly known as the BCR or the Captive Bead Ring.

This style of ring is ideal for the healing period because of the smooth edges. This stops the piercing from getting caught on anything, which can cause a whole host of issues!

Insertion and removal is easy and quick. No screwing or unscrewing, no rough threads or associated problems.

BCRs can be worn in lips, ears, nipples, eyebrow, nose, septum and more.

Curved Barbells

Curved BarbellsThe Curved Barbell is the main form of body jewelry used in the eyebrow, belly button and many other piercings on the body and face.

You will need a variety of different gauge sizes and lengths. You should also have an assortment of different materials for those who have a sensitivity to stainless steel.

Make sure you have an assortment of different belly bars. These will be on high demand, being such a popular piercing. I can guarantee it!

Circular Barbells

Circular BarbellsYou will need a large supply of circular barbells. Also known as horseshoe rings.

The circular barbell is usually worn in the septum piercing. This style of jewelry can also be worn in the lip, ears, nipples and others.

The circular barbell is unusual compared to other forms of ring and barbell. It is measured as a ring, by diameter. While it functions like a barbell. With balls that unscrew for easy insertion and removal.

Heavy Gauge Jewelry

You should have both tunnels and plugs available. Stock every gauge size up to 1 inch. You can get higher gauges than this, if you think it will be in high enough demand with your customers.

You should also sell various tapers for customers who are interested in stretching their ears.

Internally Threaded Jewelry

Internally threaded jewelry is better for the inside of the piercing than externally threaded type, which is more common. Thanks to the smooth edges where there would usually be threads. With the threads being on the inside of the bar, they do not cause friction and irritation when you are changing jewelry.

Dermal Anchors & Tops

Dermal TopsGet the type of dermal anchor which has holes in the base. The holes make the anchor secure, so therefore less likely to reject. Therefore customers will be much happier with your work!

There are a variety of dermal tops on the market. Be sure that you have something for everyone. Your selection should consist of everything from girly, glitzy gems to graphic images on plain black tops, which will appeal to male clients

Surface Bars

Surface BarbellsSurface piercings are equally prone to rejection. Wearing a specially designed surface bar will lower the risk factor.

Surface bars feature a straight bottom with a short upright leg at each side. The are removed and inserted via the screw on balls or disks.

Make sure you have a variety of these so your customers can choose exactly what they wanna wear in their new piercing.

Nose Jewelry

Nose CorkscrewsThere are many different styles of nose jewelry. You should make sure you have some of each. Which one your client will want comes down to personal preference.

Make sure you have a combination of studs, rings, corkscrews and everything else. Also have different colours and gems in stock at all times.

Nose piercings will be one of your most popular requests. With both girls and guys. So be prepared to buy a lot of nose jewelry!

Sterilization & Hygiene Supplies

Autoclave & Pouches

AutoclaveThe most effective way of cleansing jewelry and piercing equipment is autoclaving it.

Absolutely every piercing studio needs an autoclave of some description.

I always tell my readers to ask their piercer to show them their autoclave when checking out a new studio. I advise them to never get pierced in a studio which does not have one. It is simply not hygienic!

You can find a large assortment of autoclaves online. Which one you choose depends on how much you’re willing to spend. Make sure you have one though, even if you get a cheap one until you have the money for an upgrade!

You will need pouches to put your supplies in whilst they are being autoclaved. You can get these on Amazon and on most piercing supplies sites.

Piercing Aftercare Products

A good piercer should be able to supply their clients with a quality piercing aftercare solution.

Make sure you have a variety of these available, for different purposes.

I suggest stocking the EasyPiercing Care Kit. In my opinion, this is the most effective product by far. It works on any and every piercing. The awesome thing about this particular product is the fact that you are saving money on the three cleansers in the set.

Anti-Bacterial Hand Soaps & Hand Scrubs

Hand Gel DispenserAs you are well aware, you should never, ever pierce with dirty hands. Doing so spreads bacteria and causes infection.

You should be wearing gloves anyway when you pierce someone. Still, to err on the side of caution, always wash your hands.

If you want to be extra sanitary, get a hands free hand gel dispenser. One which is automatically activated by movement.

It is a sad fact that a lot of your clients will go ahead and touch their piercing, no matter how many times you tell them not to.

In case someone does, at least make sure their hands are clean before they do go poking about with their new jewelry. Have a couple of hand sanitizers dispensers around your studio for clients to use.

Get a cheap and cheerful hand gel dispenser here.

Alcohol Swabs

Alcohol SwabsAlcohol should never be used to cleanse a piercing. It is way too strong a chemical. Although it is perfect for use on equipment and furniture though.

You can use alcohol to prep the skin before performing the piercing by wiping the area with a swab BEFORE the needle goes through.

Just make sure to never use alcohol after the piercing is done.

Alcohol is very good for sterilization so always keep your studio stocked up on these.

Latex Gloves

Latex GlovesAnother effective tool in the prevention of the spread of bacteria. Wearing latex gloves whilst piercing. No matter how thoroughly you wash your hands, there could still be bacteria lurking on them. A sterile pair of latex gloves are your best bet when it comes to preventing the spread of bacteria.

Gloves are single use only. You will need a large supply.

Sharps Disposal Containers

Used needles are a threat to the health of you and your clients. For this reason, always make sure all sharps are disposed of safely and responsibly. The sharps container should have biohazard labels on it, warning others that it contains contaminated needles.

Disinfectant

Surfaces, furniture, floor and everything in your shop should be sterile. Don’t neglect these things. Get yourself a strong disinfectant for this job.

Biohazard Spill Kits

In case of a mishap, your studio needs spill kits for urine and vomit and spill kits for blood. These are two separate kits.

Hopefully you will never need them but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Bodily waste needs to be disposed of responsibly, or else your put your’s and your client’s health at

Aftercare Instruction Manuals

You should have instructions manuals for each piercing, for clients to take home.

You can design your own or buy some online. You’re probably best off designing your own. Use diagrams or photos to make instructions easier to understand for the reader. Use numbered instructions and a clear layout. The instructions need to be simple and easy to follow. This way clients will be more likely to follow them closely and therefore heal up well.

Medical Supplies

First Aid Kit

First Aid KitIn a job like body piercing, there are multiple things which can go wrong.

Be prepared by having a first aid kit nearby at all times. Just in case something does happen to one of your clients.

While you’re at it, go ahead and get a qualification in first aid. I’ve got one myself. The course only took two days and you learn some very important stuff there!

You could end up saving someone’s life.

Plasters/Bandaids & Wound Dressing

When you’re making wounds in people’s skin for a living, You’re going to need plasters and wound dressing.

Certain types of piercings can bleed a fair bit. Piercings can go wrong and the result can be bloody. Particularly if you’re not careful or experienced. In which case you should not be piercing anyway. Not until you know exactly what you are doing!

Surgical Tape

If any of your clients do experience bad enough bleeding to require a wound dressing, you will need surgical tape to keep it in place.

I would definitely recommend keeping some in your studio. You can pick some up cheap on Amazon or in your local pharmacy.

Misc. Supplies

Studio Furniture

A piercing studio is not complete without the proper furniture. You will need an adjustable chair for your client to sit in. Plus seats for anyone who is in the waiting area.

Stools for yourself and your workmates to sit on.

Tables and storage for your supplies

A wheeling table for the supplies which are in use. A table with wheels is perfect as it is easy to move around the room without too much hassle.

Anodizing Machine

Getting an anodizing machine will save money in the long run. Anodizing your own steel and titanium jewelry means you will not have to keep on spending extra on buying already anodized jewelry.

It is definitely worth splashing out on one. The more you use it the more you save. It will pay for itself after a while using it.

Price Sheet

Many clients will come in and ask to see the price sheet. Help them make up their mind on what piercing they want done by having a price sheet.

Every studio’s prices are slightly different, so make sure you have a list of all piercings and their prices.

Conclusion

Once you’ve got your certification and the supplies you need you will be able to start piercing. You will find the money starts flowing in pretty quick.

You will then be able to put more cash into your studio. Buying new equipment and topping up on anything that is running out, such as needles, gloves and jewelry.

If you can get that bit of starter money, you are good to go! That is provided you have done your apprenticeship of course!

I hope this has helped you on your journey to becoming a piercer!

Don’t forget to share this post.

Seeing as this piercing is continuing to grow in popularity, I figured it is time I created an Angel Bites piercing information guide. So you guys know what you’re getting into before you get the piercing done!

Piercing Procedure

Like most body piercings, Angel Bites are done using hollow piercing needles. Never a gun.

Both of the piercings are done in one sitting, like when you get snakebites. A separate needle is used for each of the two piercings.

Before sticking the needle through the skin, the piercer will use a marker to draw dot where the piercings will be. They will then use a clamp to secure the lip in place. This helps make sure the incision is clean and the skin does not get torn.

Once the client is happy with the placement of the piercing, the piercer will stick the needle through. In a single motion.

If done correctly, the whole process will be over with very quickly. It should not feel much worse than a quick pinch!

Pain Level

Angel Bites Piercing InformationThere is no definitive way to quantify pain. Everyone feels pain differently. A piercing that is painless to one person may be agonising for someone else!

Generally speaking though, Angel Bites are not the most painful. For comparisons sake, this piercing will hurt a bit more than a bottom lip piercing. This is because the skin is slightly more dense than the bottom lip.

Keep in mind that getting 2 piercings in one sitting causes a bit more pain.

Luckily the pain is over very quickly. So don’t let it put you off!!

What Jewelry Should You Wear?

Labret studs are the most suitable type of jewelry to be worn in the Angel Bites piercing.

You will be wearing a longer bar during the healing process. This allows for swelling, which is normal and rather common.

After you have healed up fully, the longer labret stud is swapped for a shorter, more fitted one.

Rings are occasionally worn in top lip piercings. This is uncommon though. This piercing should be placed lower on the lip if a ring is to be worn. Angel Bites are generally placed too high up for a ring to fit properly.

Make sure to wear high quality jewelry. Many people are sensitive nickel, which can be found in trace amounts even in surgical grade stainless steel.

If your skin is sensitive, go for titanium jewelry!

Aftercare

EasyPiercing Care Kit

Whilst your piercing heals, be sure to cleanse it twice or three times daily.

Your best cleansing option would be to use a quality piercing aftercare product. Such as the EasyPiercing Care Kit or H2Ocean’s cleanser.

If you cannot get hold of any piercer aftercare products, use saline solution. You can make your own by stirring a quarter of a teaspoon of rock salt into a cup of hot water. Then allowing it to cool down until it is luke-warm.

Soak a cotton pad in the solution and hold it on both piercings for about five minutes.

Also, make you practice good oral hygiene.

Brush your teeth thoroughly first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Also, brush each time you eat or drink anything other than water! If you smoke, try and keep it to a minimum, and brush after each cigarette.

Use alcohol free mouthwash. You can get specialised mouthwash for piercings.

Avoid oral sex and make-out sessions. Basically you don’t want to get anyone else’s bodily fluids in your mouth.

What Are the Risks?

Due to the fact that Angel Bites are an oral piercing, the risk of infection is slightly higher than it usually would be.

Like I said before, good oral hygiene helps prevent anything nasty happening to your piercing.

There is also a risk of oral damage if placed improperly. This could mean gum erosion or chipped teeth. A good enough reason to go to a professional for this piercing.

Angel Bites Piercing InformationAre Your Angel Bites Infected?

Whilst your piercings are healing, you should be on the look out for the following symptoms:

 • Redness
 • Swelling
 • Soreness
 • Bleeding
 • Foul smelling or off colour discharge

If notice any of these symptoms, see your doctor or piercer as soon as you possibly can. Infection can be serious. It can spread to other parts of the body. There is also a risk of it turning into septicaemia, which can be fatal!

Conclusion

If you want this piercing because you like the way it looks and think it would suit your face, go for it!

If you are thinking of getting it done because everyone else has it; forget it! It will be out of fashion soon anyway. Then you will end up looking like a bit of an idiot!

Always go to professional, look after your piercing well and wear the right jewelry. You will be glad you did when you are left with a unique and edgy piercing.

Embrace your wild side!

How to Get a Job With Facial Piercings: It is Definitely Possible! http://propiercingkits.com/how-to-get-a-job-with-facial-piercings-it-is-definitely-possible http://propiercingkits.com/how-to-get-a-job-with-facial-piercings-it-is-definitely-possible#comments Mon, 07 Mar 2016 22:08:10 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1679 [...]]]> Having facial piercings makes job hunting more of challenge than it already is. You will find yourself getting rejected multiple times. Just because you choose to express yourself through body piercing!

Have patience, you want to keep your piercings, right? Self expression should be gratifying. It should not be something you have to tuck away and hide from the world.

Finding employment with someone who can accept you for who you are will be well worth the time and effort. This may seem like an illusive goal. Although, there are certain little tricks you can use to get your foot in the door.

Fortunately we are now in the year 2016. Many of our fellow Earthlings is opening up to pierced and modified individuals. Therefore, you stand a much higher chance of landing yourself a favourable job!

In many work places, the piercing policy is still a grey area. What I mean by this is that some companies only allow certain piercings, often around the ears. Whilst others are banned completely. You may be limited to wearing studs in the piercings you are allowed to have on show.

If you get turned down for a job solely because of your piercings, it was the wrong job for you!

What Jobs Should You Apply For?

Certain areas of work are more inclined to hire pierced individuals. Apply for these jobs. You are far more likely to get employed!

Here are some of your best options:

 • Bar work – Any pub with an alternative theme would love a pierced bar tender.
 • Ikea – These guys don’t mind piercing at all.
 • Local Piercing studio – Stating the obvious
 • Hairdressers – Hairdressers tend to love alternative looking people.
 • Cinema – Any job in the entertainment industry.
 • Pizza places/delivery – Fast food joints in general don’t mind a few piercings. Nothing too extreme though!
 • Fast food – One of the easiest to acquire jobs. Always an option!

Job hunting and Interview Tips:

Don’t Hide All of Your Piercings

Extreme Piercings
Don’t suddenly turn up at work with all your piercings on show. Let their existence be known during your interview.

Here’s a bit of advice for you: tone it down for your interview. Don’t go in looking too extreme.

But…

Don’t hide all of your piercings completely. Present yourself as a pierced person. If they don’t appreciate your look, apply for a different job!

Landing the job with your piercings on show means that you won’t have to go through all the rigmarole of hiding your piercings before work every day.

Believe it or not, your boss will not be impressed with the shock value of suddenly showing up to work one day with all your piercings on display!

Avoid this issue by having a few of your piercings visible for interviews. Piercings are a part of who you are!

Wear the Right Jewelry

Body jewelry types
Wear plain body jewelry to job interviews!

Attending a job interview with a bright and fancy industrial bar right across your ear, rings in your lip and an extravagantly decorated plug in each lobe is not gonna get you anywhere!

Replace any rings you are wearing with small studs, barbell or labrets. If you have an industrial piercing, remove the long bar and replace it with two short ones.

If your ears are stretched, wear flesh toned or clear ear plugs.

You will appear much more professional, yet they still see the real you. What a great way to start a new job!

Prove Yourself

We already know that having piercings or tattoos does not affect your ability to work hard and get on with colleagues. Unfortunately, there are many closed minded people who cannot accept this as the truth.

Special effort will be needed to prove how capable you are. Present yourself well, dress sharp, perform well in the interview, be enthusiastic, do your research on the company. Prove that you are a competent, hard-working and friendly person.

Do not put bring unnecessary attention to your piercings during an interview. Not unless the subject is raised by the interviewer.

For example; let’s say you have stretched ears. The interviewer says to you “only plain studs are allowed to be worn in ear piercings”. You response should be “I could wear neutral or skin toned plugs. is that alright?”, or words to that effect. Do not go telling them that you can’t wear studs in your ears because they are stretched. Also, avoid pointing out or asking about any other piercings you have.

List of Companies and Their Piercing Policies

If you would like to know exactly which companies you should be applying for work with, take a look at the Employ Line over at The Modified Mind.

This is extremely useful and takes all the guesswork out of your job hunt!

Find your perfect job here!

Sacrificing Either Certain Piercings or Certain Jobs

Depending on what job you are going for, you may end up having to remove some of your beloved piercings. I personally don’t see how anyone could be happy in such a job. To each their own though!

At the end of the day, it all comes down to your boss’ view on piercings and body mods.

Whatever line of work you wish to go into, I’m sure there must be a company which would allow piercings. Unless you are working with children or elderly. You don’t want to freak anyone out!

Conclusion

It will probably take you multiple attempts to finally get a job you are contented with. Don’t get discouraged though. Be persistent. You will land on your feet!

“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”

The only people who truly fail in life are those who quit before they succeed.

Stick at it, you will see. It will be well worth your time and effort! You will get the best of both worlds; a good job plus you get to keep your piercings.

Any job which forbids piercings will be wrong for you. If you are passionate about self expression and body art you will feel stifled a strict environment like this.

Your life will be complete once you land that job you’ve been working so hard to get!

Quality Microdermal Piercing Kit – Great for Professionals or Amateurs! http://propiercingkits.com/quality-microdermal-piercing-kit-great-for-professionals-or-amateurs http://propiercingkits.com/quality-microdermal-piercing-kit-great-for-professionals-or-amateurs#comments Thu, 03 Mar 2016 21:50:41 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1668 [...]]]> Disclaimer: I do not condone in self piercing. It is dangerous, highly invasive and potentially unsanitary. This procedure should only be done by professionals with plenty of experience.

By reading this post and purchasing this equipment you agree to not hold me responsible for anything which happens to go wrong with this piercing!

Now I’ve said what need to be said, if you’re gonna perform the microdermal piercing yourself regardless, please use the correct equipment!

Luckily for you I have found a top notch dermal piercing kit which comes with everything you need.

I strongly advise against getting one of those cheap dermal kits from Amazon. Having used them before and being thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the equipment.

This kit is the best you will find on the internet. Perfect for professionals and amateurs alike.

Pick up this microdermal piercing kit for with 34% off the original price while the offer lasts!

What You Get With This Kit

Microdermal Piercing KitJewelry

This kit comes with 10 4mm dermal tops decorated with clear Cubic Zirconia gems.

You will also receive 10 dermal anchors. One for each dermal top.

These high quality anchors have specially placed holes. The skin grows through the holes whilst the piercing heals. This makes for greater stability and prevents the piercing from sliding about, rejecting or migrating.

The jewelry is made entirely out of 316L Surgical Grade Stainless Steel.

Tools

With this kit you will also receive 10 dermal punches. Yes, you heard me right. 10 dermal punches!

This allows you to safely and hygienically perform 10 microdermal piercings.

As the name suggests, the dermal punch works kind of like a hole punch for the skin. Allowing you to make a clean, perfectly sized incision through the top layers of the skin. The jewelry will sit perfectly in the space you create using this tool!

This awesome kit will also give you two pairs of forceps:

 • 1 set of dermal anchor kelly grip forceps
 • 1 set of dermal anchor hemostat forceps

Gloves

Black Latex GlovesFor that extra bit of hygiene you also get a set of black silicone gloves.

Wearing gloves whilst performing a piercing helps prevent bacteria from being spread.

Be sure to wear gloves throughout the piercing process.

Once you have your gloves on, do not touch anything else. Once the gloves make contact with anything else they are no longer sterile.

If this happens, sterilize your gloves again by spraying it with piercing aftercare spray. If you cannot access any piercing aftercare products, use a small amount of alcohol. Be sure to let the alcohol evaporate before touching your jewelry or tools.

Why This Particular Kit?

When performing a dermal piercing, it is of utmost importance that you use the correct equipment.

This kit is specially designed for dermal piercing and is pretty intuitive to use.

It is possible to perform a dermal piercing using a standard hollow piercing needle, but only certified piercers should do this. This procedure is complicated!

If this is your first time doing a microdermal, this is the one and only kit for you!

Also, I feel the need to mention that the fact that you get 10 dermal punches and 10 sets of jewelry, means you get 10 chances to practice this piercing. You shouldn’t use any needle or punch more than once as it will go blunt and damage the skin!. You can practice on fake skin which can be purchased online or in the butchers!

How to Use Your Dermal Piercing Kit

Dermal punch in ear
You can also use dermal punch to pierce ears in a larger gauge size. Instead of stretching!

First things first, wash hands and sterilize all your equipment. Once this bit is out of the way, follow these instructions very closely:

 • Clean your skin using alcohol swabs and mark where you want the piercing with a sharpie pen or skin marker. No skin marker? Use eyeliner! Look in the mirror to make sure you are happy with where the piercer will be positioned.
 • Line up the dermal punch with the dot on the skin.
 • Take a deep breath and push the tip of the punch into the flesh. Use enough force to penetrate the skin. The hole needs to go through the dermis down to the epidermis.
 • Use your fingers to twist the dermal punch a bit. Keeping the tool in the same spot on the skin. This will help you go deeper without going to deep!
 • Dont freak out if you see blood. Dermal piercings are known to bleed a fair bit.
 • Now use your kelly grip forceps to pick up the anchor.
 • Slide the foot of the anchor into the hole, under the skin. Push it in and makes sure both the long and short ends of the anchor are underneath the skin. Only the post/stem should be visible.
 • Use your hemostat forceps to hold the anchor in place by the stem. Now screw in the dermal top. Make sure it is tight! Keep in mind “lefty loosey, righty tighty”.

Final Words

Like I said before I do not recommend performing this piercing at home. Self-piercing is dangerous and there are multiple things that can go wrong. For best results please go to a professional!

Please note that it is illegal to use a dermal punch on others in certain countries and states. Please check the laws of your state before purchasing this piercing kit.

You attempt this piercing at your own risk and I am not liable for anything that does happen to go wrong!

For those of you stupid enough to attempt this, best of luck! If you need any extra advice, hit me up in the comments below!

Top Tips for Getting Babies Ears Pierced Safely http://propiercingkits.com/top-tips-for-getting-babies-ears-pierced-safely http://propiercingkits.com/top-tips-for-getting-babies-ears-pierced-safely#comments Mon, 29 Feb 2016 21:46:37 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1657 [...]]]> Kid with stretched ears
Ear piercing and even ear stretching is customary for children in some cultures!

Piercing a baby’s ears is controversial in the US and the UK.

Many people in our society say this is cruel. The would tell you that the baby cannot make up their own mind on whether they even want the piercing done. They have no understanding of what is being done to them.

On other side of the coin, piercing a baby’s ears is customary in several cultures of the world. As soon as baby enters the world, a needle is poked through their earlobes! The reasoning behind this is that it is believed to be more painful if the piercing is done when the child is older.

Many people will argue that the child will have no recollection of it when they grow up.

Kids are likely to end up wanting their ears pierced anyway these days. Girls in particular. Thus, they will be thankful to have had the piercing done whilst was too young to remember.

If you decide to go ahead and get your baby’s ears pierced, please make sure you do it right!

Here are some tips:

Piercing Guns are Not Safe. End of Story!

Piercing GunUsing a piercing gun on any part of the body, including the lobes, is risky business. As I’ve said numerous times before!

Yes, I’m aware that Claire’s Accessories has been guns to pierce for years. Same applies to the piercing stalls you find in most shopping malls.

This does not mean that this method is safe though. Not by a long shot!

Many of these part-time piercers are not very hygienic. For a start, they do not sterilize their equipment after each use, as they should. According to the APP, all piercing equipment should be sterilized after every use. Any equipment which can not be sterilized should be thrown out. This prevents blood borne pathogens and other diseases from spreading.

Here’s another reason to avoid any piercer who uses a gun: They are known to cause damage to the skin. Ear cartilage is often shattered by the brute force. This damage is often permanent!

Another problem with getting pierced in a mall is the fact that they often use cheap, low quality body jewelry. Wearing jewelry of such a low quality raises the risk of infection. Many people are allergic to the nickel found in the metals used in the jewelry. This can cause severe irritation or even a full blown allergic reaction (this can be very serious!).

The so called “piercers” in these places do not get anywhere near enough training. They are not even made to study blood-borne pathogens. According to the APP this is mandatory!

Needles are the Way Forward

Piercing needlesIt may seem extreme to pierce a baby’s ears using a needle. One would imagine it to be scarier and more painful than a gun!

This is not the case though. Not at all.

Piercings done with a needle have a better chance of healing problem-free. Infection and rejection rates are low.

You know that all equipment is brand new and fresh out of it’s package. Even so, it is still sterilized using an autoclave, which is the most effective sterilization method. This means that there are no deadly pathogens being passed from person to person.

Overall, this is a much safer option for both adults and babies alike.

Option #1: Find a Local Medical Piercer

Ear piercing at Claire'sIt is not uncommon for parents to dislike the idea of taking their youngster into a piercing studio. This is understandable.

Most piercing studios also do tattoos. The environment of a studio of this sort can be intimidating. You may feel that it is not child friendly. Perhaps you are concerned that your child may be influenced or frightened by the heavily tattooed and pierced individuals found there.

Luckily for you there is another option!

Many doctors in the US and now the UK can help you find a medical piercer. Some will even perform the piercing themselves. No referral needed!

If your doctor is not qualified to pierce kid’s ears, they will point you in the direction of one who can.

A medical piercer is specially trained to pierce the ears of babies. Some even pierce the noses of teens. This stops them from attempting a dangerous self-piercing!

Going to medical piercer is by far the safest option for your baby.

Most will not charge you for this service either!

Option #2: Take Your Youngster to a Professional Studio

Can’t find a medical piercer in your area?

Your next option is to find a child friendly and reputable piercing studio.

Do your research, there may be a piercing studio which specialises in ear piercings for babies and children. Most areas will have one. Read the reviews on the studios around your area to make sure you choose the most preferable one.

If there are no ear piercing studios for children and babies, you could always take your child to a proper tattoo and piercing studio!

Not all piercers will pierce babies. You will need to phone up and ask. You will be surprised at how many studios will.

Believe me, taking your baby to a tattoo and piercing studio is a great deal safer than some stall in the shopping mall! Wouldn’t you rather someone that knows what they’re doing pierce your baby’s ears? This is definitely a better option than a “piercer” who barely has two weeks of training under their belt!

Conclusion

The majority of kids get their ears pierced in the mall or at Claire’s. This does not mean it is safe though!

The environment in these places comes across as ‘child friendly’. Although the chance of your child’s piercing getting infected is substantially higher.

Piercing guns are unhygienic and damaging to the skin. The gun uses brute force to force the stud through the skin. Whereas a piercing needle will create a clean incision.

Go to a medical piercer if you have this option where you live. If not, take your child to a reputable piercing studio! Find a studio specifically for children if you can, they do exist!

Either will do a much better job for your child than the mall ever could!

You can guarantee the professionals have done a lot more ear piercings than any mall piercer could shake a stick at!

Put time into researching local piercer. Worst case scenario is you might pay a bit extra. It is well worth it for the sake of your baby’s health though!

Do you believe in piercing a baby’s ears? What about your own kids, what is the youngest age you would have their ears pierced? Join in the conversation by leaving a comment below!

Everything You Need to Know About a Septum Piercing http://propiercingkits.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-a-septum-piercing http://propiercingkits.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-a-septum-piercing#comments Wed, 24 Feb 2016 21:16:04 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1641 [...]]]> The septum piercing is placed through the cartilage wall in the middle of the nose.

In recent years, this piercing is has drastically increased in popularity. I believe I know the reason the septum piercing has caught on so well! Consider this: septum jewelry is highly noticeable when you want it on show. Slap bang in the middle of your face. Yet it is also easily hidden!

The septum piercing looks badass and edgy. Although with a smaller ring it can look strangely delicate and beautiful!

This piercing suits most face and nose shapes. It does not alter the appearance of the nose in the long run. Although swelling may occur for a few days after the piercing is first done. Primarily on the inside of the nose.

What a versatile piercing!

The Piercing Process

Septum PiercingPeople assume that the septum piercing goes straight through the cartilage.

This is not usually the case. Most piercers prefer to perforate the soft skin just below the septum cartilage wall. More commonly known as the “sweet spot”.

Not everyone has a big enough sweet spot to pierce. In cases like this the piercer has to stick the needle through the cartilage.

To find your sweet spot, grab each side of your septum and feel around for a softer bit of skin. It should be right below the hard cartilage down the center of the nose.

You may even be told that you do not have the correct anatomy for this piercing. Your piercer might refuse to do the piercing altogether.

Pain

The level of pain one experiences when their septum is pierced varies immensely.

A piercing through hard cartilage hurts a heck of a lot more than the sweet spot. Your eyes are guaranteed to water. So girls, make sure your mascara is waterproof. Unless you are going for the panda eye look!

A skilled piercer will pierce the soft skin below the cartilage. The pain level for a septum piercing performed in this manner is comparable to that of plucking a nose hair. More of a stinging, eye watering sensation. It is overwith quickly anyway. Nowhere near as painful as you would imagine it to be!

Jewelry Types

The main types of jewelry worn in the septum piercing are as follows:

Horseshoe

White Gold Circular BarbellThe circular barbell, usually known as the horseshoe is the most common form of jewelry for the septum piercing.

This form of barbell is unusual as it is measured and worn as a ring would be.

The horseshoe barbell comprises of a rounded barbell with a ball on each end. Both balls can be unscrewed. This makes insertion and removal of the jewelry pretty simple. Although the balls can be fiddly to screw on.

Septum Clicker

Gold Septum ClickerSeptum clickers come in many different designs

There is a septum clicker for every mood, person or occasion.

You will find basic designs for every day wear or more extravagant designs which are prefect for a big night on the town!

Septum clickers are a hinged form of segment ring.

BCR

BCRMany people choose to wear a Ball Closure Ring in their septum. This type of jewelry is a sensible choice.

They are easy to insert and remove. Less awkward than the horseshoe ring because the ball does not need to be screwed in. Instead it is held in placed by tension between each end of the open ring. There are two dimples on ball which keep it secure.

The BCR is a top choice for fresh piercings as there is little chance of it getting caught on anything. This is due to the smooth edges.

Aftercare

EasyPiercing Care Kit

The septum piercing needs to be kept scrumptiously clean whilst it is healing. You may think I’m stating the obvious, but I’m often shocked at how many people do not care for their piercings!

Risk of infection is high due to the position of the piercing. Any nose piercing carries this risk. There is a possibility of pieces of snot getting stuck in the jewelry. This causes bacteria to form and leads to infection.

Make sure to cleanse your septum twice a day. You can cleanse using a piercing cleansing product. Using a cotton pad to soak the piercing. Your other option for cleansing is to use saline solution. Make your own saline solution by dissolving a quarter of a teaspoon of rock salt into luke warm water.

Use a Q-tip to remove any crust which forms on the jewelry or wound.

Tip: Be gentle and always wash your hands with antibacterial soap before touching your piercing!

Risks

There is a heightened risk of infection if the piercing is not cared for properly.

Don’t touch the jewelry or the wound whilst it is healing. Cleanse it properly twice or three times a day. This way you will heal up without any problems!

Other than that, the septum piercing is risk free. One of the safest piercings you can get!

Is the Septum Piercing Right for You?

Septum PiercingAre you considering getting your septum pierced?

You don’t want to end up regretting it. Piercings are expensive and require lots of care. You need to be 100% sure that you really want it!

Here’s some advice; ask yourself “why do I want a septum piercing?”. Is it because you want to be seen as ‘cool’ or to be a part of a group? This is not a valid reason to get pierced. Take my word. Fashions change quicker than the weather. What will you do if the piercing goes out of fashion? (It will!)

Get your septum pierced because you want it. You feel it would suit your face, style or personality. Some people find piercing give them more self confidence.

As I have said many times before, do not get pierced just because your friend or favourite celebrity has it.

Read: The pros and cons of a septum piercing.

To Sum Up…

Be smart and know what you’re getting into. Before you get pierced, do your research.

Always go to good piercer who knows what theyre doing. Read reviews online. Make sure it is sterile and has an autoclave. Always ask to see your piercer’s portfolio.

Pros and Cons of Tragus Piercing – Is it Right for You? http://propiercingkits.com/pros-and-cons-of-tragus-piercing-is-it-right-for-you http://propiercingkits.com/pros-and-cons-of-tragus-piercing-is-it-right-for-you#comments Fri, 19 Feb 2016 22:04:40 +0000 http://propiercingkits.com/?p=1626 [...]]]> The delightfully delicate tragus piercing is a big hit amongst all age groups. This piercing appeals to people of all types. From glamour girls to punk rock chicks to professional women. If you are a guy, don’t feel left out. There is plenty of more masculine jewelry available on the market.

You’ve seen it on other people and admired its beauty. Would you want to get this piercing yourself though?

Getting any piercing requires commitment. So put your thinking cap on before you get one done.

The number one way to make any decision is to weigh up the pros against the cons.

I’m going to dedicate my time to listing out those pros and cons for you. I hope to help you make the decision of whether to get your tragus pierced!

Read on!

Ask Yourself the Right Questions

Pros and Cons of Tragus PiercingThe first question you should ask yourself is why do you want your tragus pierced?

Everyone has their reasons for getting a piercing. Each piercing has a story behind it.

Do you want your tragus pierced because you like how it looks? Would suit you and your ear shape? Do you want the piercing because it’s fashionable?

These is no right or wrong answer to this question. I’m not going to demand you not to get the piercing because your reason is ‘not good enough’.

I would like to give you some advice though. If you are only interested in the piercing because you want to fit it, you may end up regretting it. Fashion is constantly changing. A trend that is ‘cool’ one week will be forgotten about the next!

It would be impossible to keep up with all the latest piercing trends. You would end up literally covered in holes.

Get a piercing because you like the way it looks. Because you think it will suit your face, style and personality!

The Headphones Problem

how to wear headphones with tragus piercinAnother thing you should consider when you get your tragus pierced is how important music is in your life.

During the 6 to 8 weeks of healing, it will be uncomfortable to wear headphones. The type of ear-buds which sit inside your ear canal can be sore.

Unclean headsets also pose the risk of infection.

If you are anything like me then this is a major issue with the tragus piercing. I can’t live without music!
